A Woman’s Brew Podcast follows the ‘beer-ventures’ of two beer-loving women – Joanne Love & Tori Powell – on their mission to get more people drinking and talking about great craft beers. The duo look to infuse equal parts education, playfulness, and story-telling with a dash of chaos across their episodes with the aim to make the craft beer hobby more fun and approachable for all – made by women for everyone! Tori and Joanne are both UK based, but weave in their US connections with their love of travel to bring you – dear listeners – stories from across the industry and across the globe. We’re getting salty – with seaweed. You may know seaweed as an ingredient in Asian cuisine, or even as a superfood – but have you had it in beer?
This week we try 3 beers that use seaweed as part of the brew:
· Meet Me Underwater by Brass Castle – a red IPA with Mosaic, Sabro and seaweed from SeaGrown
· Trawler’s Dread by Harbwr – a black IPA with Pembrookshire seaweed
· Umibozu by Tartarus – a squid ink, seaweed and yuzu gose

When we saw that Elusive had produced an Oregon Trail trilogy, building on their award winning West Coast IPA, we knew we needed to get out of our comfort zones and try all the beers.
As well as drinking through Oregon Trail, Double Oregon Trail and Midnight Oregon Trail, we give you some fun facts about the history of the trail and the game that inspired the beer.
It’s always good to go back to a style that isn’t your favourite and try it again – it builds your palate and lets you see if it has changed. Which beer style do you need to go back and revisit?

We are finishing off our cocktail episodes with a round of mixed drinks. We’ve found a few cocktail inspired beers that seem to be outliers in their field with no one else attempting to make that beer.
We start with Vault City’s Strawberry Woo Woo and again ask – is this a sour starter? Tori also discusses her thoughts on British birthday cakes – prepared to be shocked!
New Bristol Brewery have created an Old Fashioned inspired stout – are they successful at interpreting the blend of bitters, bourbon and orange?
Finally, we take on The Dude with Brew York with their White Russian inspired white stout – The Dude Abides.

We continue our cocktail comparison series with another of Jo’s favourites – the Mojito! Despite the fact that she doesn’t generally like mint, a muddled leaf is actually a flavour she enjoys in a cocktail – will it be the same in a beer though!
The beers we found that emulated a mojito were all sours, but they were definitely a range of levels of sours – we not only chat about the flavours but also if these beers would be suitable for someone starting on their journey in sour beers.

Welcome to A Woman’s Brew, where women talk about beer!
We are back on the cocktail train this week and seeing if a beer can really recreate the flavours of a Pina Colada,
A cocktail that Tori and Jo can both agree on liking, a creamy, pineapple and coconut infused Pina Colada is difficult to recreate in beer form, but we try a few to see how they do. Pineapple and coconut are flavours we recognise in beer from hops like Sabro, which divides the beer community! Will these beers do the same?
