A Woman’s Brew
A Woman’s Brew Podcast follows the ‘beer-ventures’ of two beer-loving women – Joanne Love & Tori Powell – on their mission to get more people drinking and talking about great craft beers. The duo look to infuse equal parts education, playfulness, and story-telling with a dash of chaos across their episodes with the aim to make the craft beer hobby more fun and approachable for all – made by women for everyone! Tori and Joanne are both UK based, but weave in their US connections with their love of travel to bring you – dear listeners – stories from across the industry and across the globe. They hope that you’ll grab a drink of your choosing and join them for a round or few – CHEERS!

In case you missed it – we love Wilderness! We’ve been lucky enough to chat to James and Helen again, this time about their new ‘not core range’ Rise/Fall.
We find out how a brewery in Wales that makes mostly farmhouse ales (which are delicious!) develops a core range to fit their style. We also talk about the branding of the Rise/Fall beers with Sophie Potter, their new tshirts and frogs in cowboy hats!
Head over to Wilderness’ website to grab their beautiful beers (and a tshirt!) here:

Check out Sophie Potter here:

And if you missed our previous episode with Wilderness you can catch up here:

Welcome to A Woman’s Brew, where women talk about beer!
You may have seen hard seltzers making an appearance in supermarkets and bars. But what are they, how are they made and how do they taste?
In this episode we drink three hard seltzers, made by breweries, so you don’t have to!
We discuss how hard seltzers are made, their popularity in the US and why they don’t seem to be so big in the UK and what flavours you can expect to find on the shelves.
We tried hard seltzers from:
Shipyard Brewing Company
New Hokkaido
The Brewing Projekt
To find out more about how hard seltzers are made check out this article from Wine Enthusiast:

And more information about hard seltzers can be found on Vinepair here:

Welcome to A Woman’s Brew, where women talk about beer!
It is bring your mum to (beer) work day here at A Woman’s Brew, please meet Sharon – Tori’s mom!
Sharon doesn’t really drink, let along drink beer, so Tori thought it would be interesting to hear her insights into the world we call craft. We chat to her about her experience of beer and drinking throughout her life before Tori takes her to here favourite spots here in the UK.
After a few weeks of travels we chat again to get Sharon’s perspective on UK taprooms and our craft beer culture compared to what she has seen in the US.
We think this conversation really highlights the need for all and differing perspectives on situations. If you continue to just see the world through one lens, you can miss important opportunities and information!
You also get some behind the scenes history about Tori’s antics!
Do you parents drink beer? What do they think about your love of beer? Let us know in the comments!

Welcome to A Woman’s Brew, where women talk about beer!
We are back making a Brave Noise, this time with Fierce Beer!
We chat to Kirsty from Fierce about their version of the beer and why they took part in the initiative. Kirsty comes from a background working in beer bars and has a lot of insight around what it’s like for bar staff in the beer industry. Fierce donated their portion of Brave Noise profits to the Drinks Trust to support workers in the hospitality industry. It’s good to remember that the issues raised by the Brave Noise initiative and those like it affect not just those working in breweries, but the hospitality industry as a whole.
Disclaimer – in this episode we talk a lot about Beer52, through which the Fierce Brave Noise beer was distributed. We recorded this episode in August with Kirsty and the beer was released in December 2021. At A Woman’s Brew we always advocate for shopping local and supporting your craft beer bars, pubs, taprooms and bottle shops, who need our support more than ever at this time.
To check out Fierce’s current range of beers, head to their website here:

And find out more about the Drinks Trust here:

Welcome to A Woman’s Brew, where women talk about beer!
Some of the most interesting innovation in craft beer can come from historical sources. In this episode we have gathered together a selection of beers that come from historical recipes and practices.
Starting with Bishop’s Finger from the oldest brewery in the UK, Shepherd Neame, moving to a mild recipe from 1916 by Elusive and Partizan, Holy Goat make an appearance with their 1897 export stout and finishing with a 200th anniversary oude gueuze from Lindemans. We cover the gambit of the oldest bottled beer, old recipes bought back to life and celebration of traditional beer making techniques.
Brewing is such an interesting art! Are there other historical beers we should look at? Let us know in the comments!
Check out the International Women’s Day page on the Shepherd Neame website here:

Welcome to A Woman’s Brew, where women talk about beer!
We’re bringing the flavour this week while we chat to Nath and Sam from Brass Castle. Not only did they kindly send us their pumpkin spice latte white stout Kitsch, we also got to sample the full gambit of their beers – from Galaxy packed pale ale to salty and tart pickle gose!
We’ve featured Brass Castle on the podcast before because they just know how to work with flavour! But did you also know that they are gluten free? Their beers are for everyone! We also chat about their taproom with the exclusive beers they often have just on tap and how different a beer can be depending on it’s dispense method – be that can, keg, cask or even nitro.
But what’s cooler? A dog called Mavis or a Slipknot album as a beer name influence?! Let us know in the comments!
A missive thank you to Nath and Sam for coming on – we had the best time! They have been kind enough to offer our dear listeners (that’s you!) 10% off an order of their beer on the webshop. Head over there now for some tasty beers and use code ‘awomansbrew’ to get yours today!
https://brasscastle.co.uk/
Beers we tried:
Galaxy Crush DDH pale ale
Kitsch pumpkin spice latte white stout
Hyggy Figgy fig, blueberry and almond stout
Pickleback pickle gose
Trinitario chocolate stout

Welcome to A Woman’s Brew, where women talk about beer!
Spooky season is upon us and you might have some sweets left over. Can you pair them with your favourite beers?
This week we pair some popular Halloween candies with beer to see which is a treat and which is a trick. We try Starburst, Haribo, M&Ms, Kitkat, Twix, Snickers and Milkway with various beer styles to find the tastiest treats. We also delve into the different sweets given out across the world, and which states in the US love peanut butter cups.
Which sweets would you pair with your favourite beer? Let us know in the comments!

Ask me about my imposter syndrome! We saw this awesome beer name from Spookton Brew Co – in case you’ve missed it, we talk about our importer syndrome on the reg!
Our excitement over the beer name caught the attention of Spookton founder Jon, and he reached out to us. We are so excited to have a chat with him about how he started the brewery, Spookton’s charitable efforts and his thoughts on Imposter Syndrome. We also get a bit of Brave Noise talk in there for good measure!
