A Woman’s Brew Podcast follows the ‘beer-ventures’ of two beer-loving women – Joanne Love & Tori Powell – on their mission to get more people drinking and talking about great craft beers. The duo look to infuse equal parts education, playfulness, and story-telling with a dash of chaos across their episodes with the aim to make the craft beer hobby more fun and approachable for all – made by women for everyone! Tori and Joanne are both UK based, but weave in their US connections with their love of travel to bring you – dear listeners – stories from across the industry and across the globe. We are finishing off Women’s History Month by interviewing the women who are closest to the podcast – us! Jo and Tori interview each other in the episode through a combination of questions from listeners, social media followers, speed dating questions and just what they want to know about each other.

Welcome to A Woman’s Brew, where women talk about beer!
We are making a Brave Noise – both physically and by brewing the beer!
If you haven’t heard about Brave Noise, it is a global collaboration beer started by Brienne Allan. It started as a question:
“Have you ever experienced sexism in the beer industry?”
This opened the flood gates to reports of not just sexism, but racism, homophobia and sexual assault within the beer industry and community. To honour those that have spoken out and to try to have a safer, more inclusive beer industry, the Brave Noise collaboration was born.
To take part breweries must submit their code of conduct and make this publicly available to staff and consumers. They must also commit to doing the long term work of building a more inclusive industry and make a donation to an appropriate charity or non-profit that reflects the mission of the collaboration.
We were honoured to be asked by Merakai Brewing Co to be part of their Brave Noise brew – not only brewing the beer with them but also expressing why the cause is so important to us and helping to choose the non-profit partner to receive funds from the sale of the beer.
We chose The Coven Brewsters Wellness Officer initiative. These with be trained staff that will attend beer events and festivals to help, support and act as witness for attendees.

Shannon has built a global export business based on a college project that has been successfully running for 7 years. Despite Covid and US restrictions, Brew Export UK is managing to bring US craft beer to the UK at excellent prices and through cold chain storage.
Shannon’s story is quite inspiring and we loved chatting to her, finding out what is to come from Brew Export UK. We hope to have a beer with her one day in the future!

We are so honoured to be talking to Dr J Nikol Jackson-Beckham from the Brewers Association. Not only was she their first Diversity Ambassador, she now leads the Brewers Association's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion department as the association's Equity & Inclusion Partner. She also runs Crafted for All LLC and is an advocate for inclusion in the beer community and industry. Her insights certainly opened our eyes!
Dr J gives us actionable tips on how we can all be inclusive not only in beer but throughout our lives. This was such an important conversation, and we hope that you get as much out of it as we did.
